Ksp orbital supercollider3/2/2023 ![]() > If you're like me, you were probably hoping for something more substantive than a rocket launch. > Introduces the main mechanics and tasks of the game, including resource gathering, manufacture, automation, research and combat. ![]() So I'll use it as a model for the rest of what I'm writing:īase Game) Factorio: From Zero to Space-Flight Right now there's no real "cherry" for launching the rocket other than that its a victory-condition for the game. This is done in immersive 3D environments, and that experience is crucial to those games.īut Factorio could, in future sequels/expansions, do something similar. In KSP, I was able to build specific space-ships with specific components to fulfill the requirements of the mission, establish bases on other planets, etc. In Subnautica, I was able to build a base that contained all the creature comforts, plus food, water, etc. What those games do have in common that Factorio does not have is something substantive to build towards (I know that this is subjective, but bear with me): In Space Engineers, I was able to build a giant spaceship with quarters, sensors, smaller spaceships, etc. But none of those other games have the wonderful, complex and imaginative resource management and research component of Factorio. I even maintain high hopes for No Man's Sky. I'm also a big fan of Space Engineers, Subnautica, KSP, Planetbase and other building/survival/simulation games. I'm a big fan of Bob's Mods as well, because the more complex and aggravating, the better. ![]() The resource gathering, processing, researching, building and automation at the core of the game makes for an endlessly engaging and interesting activity in and of itself. ![]() First, I just want to say that I love Factorio. ![]()
